Muskadel SA Gold Awards for Du Toitskloof Wines
Our Breedekloof region is very well-known for dessert wines and this was once again proven at the 17th annual Muskadel SA Awards function when Du Toitskloof was awarded Gold for both our Hanepoot Jerepigo 2014 and new vintage Red Muscadel 2016.
The grapes that are sourced for both our Hanepoot Jerepigo and Red Muscadel fortified wines are from single vineyard bush vines yielding between six and eight tons of grapes per hectare. Both types of grapes are harvested when very ripe and contain delicious honey flavours, followed by fortification with wine spirits to stop the fermentation in the juice and preserve the sweet natural sugars produced by the berries.
Whilst the Hanepoot Jerepigo boasts with hints of citrus fruit and chocolate orange liqueur, the Red Muscadel shows luscious litchi and mango flavours with tea-leaf and roses on the nose. The Hanepoot Jerepigo and Red Muscadel are packaged in 500ml bottles and are available online and at the cellar door at R60.00 a bottle while stocks last. Click here for online shop.
Congratulations to fellow Breedekloof wineries; Badsberg and Slanghoek for their wonderful performance at the Muskadel SA Awards last week.
