10 Michelangelo Awards for Du Toitskloof in 2019
Another year of recognition for a winery that started out as a quality bulk wine producer from the Breedekloof. Today, decades after Du Toitskloof stepped into the packaged product arena, our wines continue to win excellent accolades nationally and internationally.
Du Toitskloof Cape Ruby 2013 was awarded Double Gold with 9 Gold medals awarded to our Du Toitskloof Pinotage Rosé 2019, PMR Red Blend 2018, Dimension Red Blend 2017, Sauvignon Blanc 2019 and Pinotage 2017, Land’s End Sauvignon Blanc 2018, Syrah 2015 and 2017 vintages as well as our Quest Heroes Journey 2 (Rhône Blend) 2016.
This year’s Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards attracted over 2 000 entries judged by 24 international and six South African wine and spirits experts, representing 22 countries. After 6 days of sniffing, swirling and spitting, the judges handed out 25 trophies, 13 Platinum medals and 146 Double Gold medals. This year’s competition included 192 Sauvignon Blanc, 169 Shiraz and 134 Chardonnay entries with growth in all other categories.
Double Gold awarded Du Toitskloof Cape Ruby was also awarded a Platinum Award in 2018 and Double Gold in 2017. This award-winning wine is currently available on Takealot, click here. The port-style wine shows aromas of smoky prune and spices having been aged in French oak for 12-18 months before bottling. The wine was fortified by using brandy spirits and can age for up to 50 years.
For the second year in a row our dry rosé, Du Toitskloof Pinotage Rosé was awarded Gold by Michelangelo after another Gold award from Rosé Rocks only a couple of weeks ago. Gold awarded Land’s End Sauvignon Blanc 2018 has also been awarded Silver IWSC 2019 and was announced as one of the Top 20 Sauvignon Blancs in the FNB Top 10 Sauvignon Blanc Competition which will be made public later this week. Land’s End Syrah 2015 was also awarded Gold 2 years ago and shows that this cold-climate style wine is ageing beautifully - click here to purchase Takealot.
